Governor Roy Cooper addressed the state this afternoon with an update on Covid-19 in our state and further actions to be taken.
Some may have speculated that Cooper was going to announce some variance of looser restrictions, following the action of other Governors.
California’s Gavin Newsom recently lifted his state’s stay-at-home order and curfew and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is set to reopen restaurants.
“With more than 3,300 people in the hospital, and the percent of positive tests in double digits, we know this virus is still spreading,” said Governor Cooper. “And with at least one new contagious variant of COVID-19 in our state, we still have work to do. We cannot let our guard down, especially in these cold winter months.”
The state’s stay-at-home Executive Order No. 189, requirements to wear face masks and the limit to number of people in indoor or outdoor activities were all extended to be in effect through at least Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
Cooper also announced the extension of Executive Order No. 190 allowing for the sale of “to-go” or delivery of mixed beverages and the moratorium of evictions with Executive Order No. 191.
