It’s official: 18-year-old Anastasija Zolotic s the first American to take home the gold in taekwondo!
Zolotic beat Russia’s Tatiana Minina 25-17 for the featherweight division title. Zolotic is just the fourth American to get this far in the Olympics for taekwondo and only the second woman. Zolotic is feeling pretty good, saying, “Isn’t that amazing?
I’m just glad I can do something to raise its profile in the U.S. I just want the country to be proud of me, to share this flood of emotions.”
