The “PrePup Checklist” encourages couples to discuss and plan for the responsibilities of pet ownership if they were to separate while caring for an animal.

While not legally binding, the checklist prompts couples to consider the future of their pets in case of a breakup and avoid relying solely on property agreements.

The checklist aims to strengthen the bond between pet owners and their pets while promoting healthy co-parenting practices.

56% of pet owners surveyed had not discussed pet custody in case of a breakup.
