The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits had a slight jump last week, going up to 332 thousand.

This increase is up by 20 thousand from the week prior, which was a pandemic low. In Louisiana, claims were up by 4 thousand, most likely due to the effects of Hurricane Ida.

It is believed that the Delta Variant of the coronavirus is also responsible for the overall rise in claims being filed, with Americans stepping back from making any travel plans.

Over 8 million Americans lost all unemployment aid last week as two federal programs assisting out of work people expired.
