Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will soon consider looking to get more students back to classrooms for in-person instruction.
On Friday, CMS announced superintendent Earnest Winston would present a recommendation to move all middle and school students to Plan A, which involves no specific social distancing on campus. He is expected to put this on the table at the next CMS Board meeting on March 23.
Plan A is currently in place for elementary students and that plan would be adopted for all students in the district.
The shift comes after Governor Roy Cooper signed a law with bipartisan support ordering districts to work on getting students back into classrooms for a five day per week schedule.
CMS did not provide specific details of their plans, but it will allow students whose families opt for them to receive in-person instruction to be back into classrooms for four days each week.
Once the Board approves the changes, they will communicate details to staff, families, and students.
