A suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood, CMPD confirmed in a statement later today.

Police say 32-year-old Frankie Jennings was shot by US Marshals deputies while attempting to arrest him for several outstanding felony warrants at a Citgo gas station on the 2200 block of The Plaza.

During the exchange, a member of the Marshals’ Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) perceived a lethal threat and fired their service weapon striking Jennings. Witnesses in the area say they heard two shots fired. Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

CMPD’s homicide division is investigating the shooting. A gun belonging to Jennings was recovered at the scene, according to police. It’s still unclear if he ever tried to fire the weapon.

No law enforcement officer was injured in the incident, and CMPD officers were not involved, according to the department.
