A Portland woman who wrote the self-published essay “How to Murder Your Husband” has been found guilty — of murdering her husband. A jury of seven women and five men handed down a guilty verdict this week in the trial of 71-year-old Nancy Crampton Brophy, who was charged with killing her 63-year-old husband, Chef Daniel Brophy, in June 2018. Brophy showed no emotion as the verdict was read. The amateur author, who’s been in custody since her husband’s murder, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 13th. If you wrote something called “How to Murder Your Husband,” would that automatically exclude you from doing anything harmful to your spouse?
