Charlotte local news weather teams are reporting the heat will reach dangerous temperatures in Carolina.

This week across the Carolinas extreme temperatures from a heatwave will make it feel well over 100 degrees.

The official first day of summer is June 21, but it may as well already started in the South and Southwest.

Record temperatures were reported in the southwest region of the U.S. this weekend. Phoenix reported a temperature of 114 degrees Fahrenheit, which tied for a record set back in 1918.

Las Vegas hit a record high of 109 degrees, while Denver hit 100 degrees.

Death Valley, meanwhile, hit 122 degrees on Saturday setting a new record.

Do you think summer will be our hottest yet? How do you keep cool during the summer months?
