The mother of Gabby Petito has devoted herself to helping other women struggling with abusive relationships.
Nichole Schmidt has partnered with the National Domestic Violence Hotline through a $100,000 donation from the Gabby Petito Foundation.
Petito’s death made national headlines last year, after she was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Brian Laundrie while on a cross-country trip.
Schmidt told reporters “I think Gabby’s story touched a lot of people and she’s saving lives. I get people messaging me all the time that they were inspired by her to get out of a relationship”.
