The House select committee that’s investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Thursday voted to subpoena former President Donald Trump.

The unanimous vote came after Chairman Bennie Thompson told the committee Trump was “the one person at the center” of the events that took place on January 6th, 2021.

“Donald Trump led an effort to upend American democracy that directly resulted in the violence of January 6th,” Thompson said.

“He tried to take away the voice of the American people in choosing their president and replace the will of the voters with his will to remain in power. He is the one person at the center of the story of what happened on January 6th. So we want to hear from him.”

Previously, Trump has referred to the House panel as an “unselect committee of political thugs and hacks,” adding that its members are “evil, sinister and unpatriotic.”

How does this make the U.S. look to other countries?
