The Charlotte Hornets, in conjunction with the NBA, unveiled their fourth uniform choice available for this season, with their new City Edition uniform.

This year’s look is a continuation of the style implemented during the 2020-21 season, where the Hornets had mint uniforms inspired by the US Mint’s history in Buzz City.

Two seasons ago, Charlotte fans will remember that the Mint edition uniforms were scarce in terms of inventory, but this year, the Hornets feel they are better prepared. “This is the largest investment in merchandise we’ve made as an organization,” Hornets Senior VP of Marketing Seth Bennett told WFNZ yesterday. “We anticipated the popularity this design would have.”

The Hornets obtained a special permission to use the “CLT” airport code trademark, as opposed to the CHA abbreviation which the NBA recognizes as their official abbreviation. The Hornets said there are no plans to acquire the CLT branding on a permanent basis. The trademark is held by a third-party owner who holds other trademarks to airport codes around the country.
