Fortalice Solutions CEO Theresa Payton gave her perspective on what’s going on behind-the-scenes in the White House in President Trump’s final days. A new round of bans from Big Tech companies towards Trump has been one of the stories to make headlines after the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

A tedious process under normal circumstances with a transition of power, but even more so now with a focus on preserving records in a digital age. Payton, who served as the chief information officer in the White House under George W. Bush, referenced this isn’t a standard changeover and the key will be understanding all the information beforehand.

“This time of doing a presidential transition is always incredibly stressful, but I cannot imagine the ongoing consternation of trying to keep with what official accounts are still active and need to be managed and also preserved. And then which ones are banned and what does that mean?”

She went on to say, “What a lot of people don’t realize is while incoming President Biden, while he is being sworn-in, behind-the-scenes at the White House all of those records, both paper and digital, need to be moved so they can be preserved by the National Archives.”

Payton also talked about Parler being shut down by Amazon and what that means for their business overall. The far-right wing social media forum went dark on Monday after users of the site played a role in inciting violence at the Capitol. The abrupt cancellation by Amazon’s Web Services division was challenged by a federal lawsuit from Parler’s CEO John Matez. Payton also noted Parler could end up be housed by Epik, a tech company headquartered in Sammamish, Washington.
