Finishing up Christmas gifts

Holiday gift giving is stressful enough and everything we’ve gone through this past year can make it even more stressful.

During this season of giving, do yourself a favor and give…simply, with some homemade gifts!

A homemade gift is nothing to be frowned upon.  In fact quite the opposite. A homemade gift shows the thoughtfulness and love of being carefully prepared.  I love to make homemade gifts for Christmas and I am always looking for new and unique ideas.

Kate Hall DIY gifts

I recently came across a praline crunch snack mix recipe and HAD to try it.  It’s SO easy and totally addicting, that I decided to make a few more batches to use as gifts. With inexpensive mason jars from the craft store for containers (under $2 each) and twine for the bow, I had several gifts that not only look good, they taste good, and the gift keeps on giving as the jar can be reused by the recipient!

Another gift I’m making this year is shower melts infused with essential oil.  A shower melt is a quick and easy way to transform a shower into a spa like experience, whether to calm or invigorate.  I chose a blend of oils(eucalyptus, peppermint, cardamom) for one batch and lavender for another.  This 3 ingredient recipe is super simple yet super powerful with the wellness effect it will leave. Use any essential oil you like for some homemade aromatherapy.

Making homemade gifts also makes for a wonderful family activity.  It’s great way to teach kids the bigger lesson in this season of giving: that it’s not about what you give(or get), but about the love and thoughtfulness behind the action.

Happy Gifting!
