Four men were taken into custody and charged with murder in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina early Monday.

Police say they discovered the body of 23-year-old Trevon Quantavius Fields of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. inside the trunk of a car during a traffic stop around 1 a.m. ET. Fields was killed by apparent gunshot wounds and police later learned he was likely murdered outside of the city limits.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying, “Detectives began investigating along with the assistance from Roanoke Rapids officers and charged the four occupants of the vehicle with murder.

Ralik Robinson, 22, Trevathann Myquan Shearin, 20, Shantron Avondre Person, 20 all of Roanoke Rapids and Deluntae Jaequon Squire, 23 of Halifax have been arrested for the death of Mr. Fields. The four men have been charged with murder and placed in the Halifax County Detention Center with a January 20, 2021 court date pending.”
