There is an all-women, drop-in recruiting event slated for Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Fire Training Academy on Shopton Road.
CMPD hired its first female employee in 1925 but it wasn’t until 1967 that the first women were sworn in as officers.
The HERstory of women in law enforcement is still evolving as communities discover the benefits of having female officers and agents.
The FBI is also focusing on women-focused recruiting, too.
