The Backstreet Boys were back and on display in Sydney. A stunt on stage has created a core memory for some, as the world’s best-selling boy band flipped the script when AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson threw their underwear into the crowd. “Kevin and I would like to return the favor tonight,” McLean told the crowd, as he recalled a time back in the day when fans would throw underwear to them on stage. “If you brought your little ones here tonight, don’t freak out,” he added. The boys burst back onto the Sydney scene after seven years, synchronized moves and all, singing their earliest hits, framed by giant, geometric lights, lasers, and jets of smoke, the band’s performance was far from stripped back.
