UNC Charlotte, which is the second largest school in the UNC system, has always lacked a main street.
Of course it’s bordered by North Tryon Street and University City Boulevard but those don’t exactly scream walkable. The shopping plazas certainly come in handy but it lacks a Chapel Hill-Hillsborough Street feel.
Well, plans are in the works for a change.
Charlotte-based Cambridge Properties plans to redevelop a 15-acre property within walking distance to the 49ers football stadium.
It will be years before this vision could spring to life.
