In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ed Sheeran said Jay-Z didn’t want to be a guest verse on “Shape of You,” which became the number-one song in 34 countries.

“I sent him the song, and he said, ‘I don’t think the song needs a rap verse.’ He was probably right. He’s got a very, very good ear. He usually gets things right. It was a very natural, respectful pass,” said Sheeran.

Sheeran’s new album is dropping on May 5th and he will begin his US Tour on April 10th in Jay Z’s hometown, Brooklyn, NY.
