An Army Officer in Virginia is seeking more than $1 million in damages against two police officers after being pepper-sprayed and forced to the ground during a traffic stop in December. The incident caught on video shows Army Lt. Caron Nazario pulled over in a black SUV for reportedly driving without a rear license plate.

The president, who will be joined by Attorney General Merrick Garland, will nominate David Chipman, an adviser to the gun control organization founded by former Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). 

CNN is reporting the deal for Pence is worth somewhere in the range of $3 million to $4 million. The first book is expected to be released in 2023 and will be a memoir of his time as second-in-command under President Trump. As for the second, it will be more of a broad autobiographical read expected in early 2024.

In the U.S., contactless payments have gone up 150% since March 2019. In addition, 49 countries have announced contactless payment transaction limit increases, ranging from 25% to 400%, with an average of 131%, according to data by EMarketer.

Half of Republicans believe the Jan. 6 violent siege was “largely a non-violent protest” or done by left-wing activists “trying to make Trump look bad,” the poll found. It will put the deadline well within reach for his administration over the next three weeks. 

The United State's daily death toll from COVID-19 fell to 222 on Sunday, the lowest figure since March 23, 2020, official data from Johns Hopkins University showed. A sharp decline from the 4,000 deaths per day reported in early January of this year due to mass vaccination efforts happening across the country.
