The Federal Trade Commission, along with 47 states and Washington D.C. have accused Facebook of becoming a social media monopoly by "crushing smaller rivals", according to separate federal lawsuits filed on Wednesday. According to the New York Times, "Federal and state regulators, who have been investigating the company for over 18 months, said in separate lawsuits that Facebook’s purchases, especially Instagram for $1 billion in 2012 and WhatsApp for $19 billion two years later, eliminated competition that could have one day challenged the company’s dominance."

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board has voted for all K-12 students to learn remotely starting on Dec. 14. A vote that passed by a 6-3 margin on Tuesday night. However, no changes for Pre-K instruction that will still be offered in-person.
"As cases across the country continue to rise, we've seen rapid increases in our key metrics here in North Carolina," Cooper said during a press conference. "Our case counts have broken single-day records on three separate days in just the last week, and the percent of tests returning positive has increased to more than ten percent."
