Left-Handers Day 2021: The History Behind The Celebration And Some Facts About The Wonderful Left Happy National Left-handers day!

The August 13th celebration of left-handed people was started in 1976 by Dean R Campbell, founder of Left-Handers International Inc. The day which honors people who are left-handed wasn’t an official day until it was recognized by the Left-Hander’s Day Club on August 13, 1997.

Left-handed people are a unique group with only 10 percent of the world’s population being left-handed. Historically the use of the left hand was associated with witchcraft.  Five of the last presidents have been left-handed, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.
