One of the most infamous murders of the 21st century finally has a confession.
As part of a plea deal, Joran van der Sloot has confessed to the 2005 murder of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway.
Holloway was murdered in 2005 in Aruba. Van der Sloot was later charged with trying to extort $250,000 from her family for information about the location of the body, which was never found.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” Beth Holloway told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Alabama. “Joran van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter’s murder. He is the killer.”
Prior to his sentencing, van der Sloot revealed how he began kissing Holloway on the beach in Aruba following a date in a local bar. The 36-year-old dutch man wanted more than kissing but Natalee refused and kneed him in the crotch.
Van der Sloot then grabbed a nearby cinder block, he said reportedly confessing: “I smash her head in with it completely.” And then dumped her body in the ocean.
Van der Sloot is already serving a 28-year prison sentence for another murder in Peru in 2010.
