North Carolina is on the cusp of a significant change in its driver’s license system. In response to the growing threat of fraud, the state is gearing up to introduce new licenses embedded with advanced security features.
These licenses will not only sport a fresh aesthetic, adorned with iconic state symbols like the dogwood and salamander, but will also boast enhanced materials and over 50 security measures.

The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) is spearheading this initiative, aiming to fortify the licenses against tampering and counterfeiting. Laser engraving and other cutting-edge security technologies will be employed to ensure the utmost protection for cardholders.
The rollout of these revamped licenses is imminent, slated to commence within the next month. Current license holders need not fret; they will only be required to obtain the new version upon the expiration of their existing licenses.
This development comes as a testament to the state’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens’ identities and ensuring the integrity of its licensing system.
