Dates announced for South Carolina’s Tax Free Weekend

South Carolina’s annual Tax Free Weekend is set to take place from Friday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, allowing shoppers to purchase eligible items without paying the state’s 6% sales tax.

The tax-free period applies to both new and used items, regardless of price, offering relief to families amid rising inflation.

Last year, South Carolina shoppers saved over $1.8 million in sales tax by purchasing $30.4 million worth of tax-free items during the weekend.

However, certain items like digital cameras, smartphones, jewelry, cosmetics, and furniture are not eligible for the tax exemption.
