Hoda Kotb, longtime co-anchor of NBC’s ‘Today’ show, announced that she will be leaving the morning show early next year.
In a letter to staff and on-air announcement, Kotb shared that turning 60 prompted her to seek new opportunities and turn the page on her career.
From Today.com, Kotb said: “I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” she said.
“I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.”
After 26 years with NBC and 17 years on ‘Today,’ Kotb will be departing the show in the beginning of 2025 but will remain with the network.
