The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, securing a spot in Super Bowl 59.
Eagles players Jordan Davis and Will Shipley, both with ties to Charlotte, made significant contributions in the game.
Davis, a defensive tackle from Mallard Creek High School, recorded a sack and two tackles, while Shipley, a rookie running back from Weddington High School, rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
This will be Davis’s second Super Bowl appearance, having previously played in Super Bowl 57.
Shipley had a standout performance on Championship Sunday, contributing a crucial fumble recovery and scoring his first career touchdown in the team’s victory over the Commanders to secure a spot in Super Bowl LIX.
The 22-year-old from North Carolina, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl, calling it a dream come true.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Shipley has made significant contributions to the Eagles’ success this season.
The Eagles are set to face either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills in their quest for a second franchise Super Bowl victory.
