Maya Henry, Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée, has spoken out about their tumultuous relationship and his struggles with substance abuse.

She revealed that Payne’s addiction issues played a significant role in their breakup, despite her efforts to support him.

“Initially, it was the drug use and addictions that tore us apart. Anyone who has been with an addict understands how difficult that is,” Henry wrote in a statement.

Henry described feeling defrauded and heartbroken, ultimately choosing to walk away from the relationship.

“While I loved him deeply, he did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand, and he continued to hurt me years after we broke up,” added Henry. “On drugs, he became someone unrecognizable — so different from his sober self.”

Payne tragically passed away at age 31 in October 2024, with toxicology reports revealing a mix of drugs in his system.

Henry had previously filed a cease and desist letter against Payne for contacting her after their split.

She continued, “I kept hoping each incident would be a wake-up call for him to get help, but it never was. I tried to be there for him. I loved him so much that I convinced myself I could fix things.”

Payne and Henry were first seen together in August 2018 and made their relationship official in September 2019. They got engaged in 2020 but split in June 2021. After reconciling in October 2021, they ultimately parted ways for good the following year.
