Netflix has announced that its show Adolescence will be available to all high schools in the UK through Into Film+.

Resources are being produced to help teachers and parents navigate conversations sparked by the series.

The show has generated national discussion, with even UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer weighing in on the topics raised.

“As a father, watching this show with my teenage son and daughter, I can tell you — it hit home hard,” said Starmer. “It’s an important initiative to encourage as many pupils as possible to watch the show. As I see from my own children, openly talking about changes in how they communicate, the content they’re seeing, and exploring the conversations they’re having with their peers is vital if we are to properly support them in navigating contemporary challenges, and deal with malign influences.”

The four-part drama, directed by Philip Barantini and starring Graham, Ashley Walters and Erin Doherty, revolves around the brutal murder of a young girl by a 13-year-old schoolboy (played by Owen Cooper).

Netflix’s decision to make Adolescence available in schools follows a roundtable discussion involving the government, show creators, and UK charities.

Resources will focus on promoting healthy masculinity, positive mental health, and strong relationships among young men.
