Hugh Jackman Ex-Wife Cites “Betrayal” in Wake of Divorce
Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness has filed for divorce after 27 years of marriage, with reports suggesting the split was not fully amicable.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said in a statement to The Daily Mail on May 27. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
The couple, who have two adopted children, have seemingly settled financial matters behind the scenes. Jackman has reportedly made a handsome spousal support payment to Furness, with both parties committed to co-parenting their children.
“Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose,” the 69-year-old continued. “It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”
Furness has expressed compassion for those who have experienced betrayal and emphasized the importance of self-integrity and freedom in navigating the breakdown of their marriage.
