Billy Idol Warns Fans
Billy Idol warned fans about a scammer pretending to be him in order to solicit money.
The scammer used a fake seat code and promised a special meet and greet at a concert in Toronto.
Officials believe the scammer might be using AI to mimic Idol’s voice in phone calls.
Idol clarified on Instagram that he would not solicit money from fans personally.
“There [are] scammers out there soliciting $ (money) pretending to [be] me I would not solicit money from [you] personally, so don’t believe them. Thank [you,]” the veteran rocker captioned the post.
Other celebrities like Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock have also dealt with scammers impersonating them on social media.
