Wells Fargo installs sign on Uptown tower over weekend

A new sign has been installed atop the Wells Fargo building in Uptown Charlotte, changing the city’s skyline.
Helicopters were used to lift the 14-foot-tall letters to the top of the former Duke Energy tower. The sign will undergo several weeks of testing before being officially turned on.
Wells Fargo plans to enhance the building’s LED lighting system and expand the Wells Fargo Lights program to recognize various causes and events.
The signage installation and lighting improvements are part of Wells Fargo’s $500 million employee experience investment initiative.
This isn’t the first time corporate branding has transformed Charlotte’s skyline. In 2020, Truist’s decision to rebrand the historic Hearst Tower generated mixed reactions from local residents and urban planning advocates.
