Sabrina Carpenter faced backlash over the original cover of her upcoming album “Man’s Best Friend,” which some critics found provocative and sexualized.

Carpenter released a new black-and-white alternate cover for the album, approved by her and others, showing her with a man in a suit.

Legendary singer-songwriter Carly Simon defended Carpenter’s original cover, calling it “tame” and stating, “She’s not doing anything outrageous.”

The album’s lead single, “Manchild” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Carpenter’s second chart-topper and her first song to debut at the top.

Carpenter expressed gratitude for the success of “Manchild,” writing on Instagram, “I can’t tell you how much this means to me!!!! This song makes me so happy.”
