Charlotte Serves as Backdrop for Netflix Hit “The Hunting Wives”

Netflix’s The Hunting Wives has fans buzzing, not just for its drama, but for its familiar Charlotte scenery. The series, which has held a spot in Netflix’s Top 10 for two straight weeks, was filmed throughout the Queen City and nearby Lake Norman.
Based on May Cobb’s 2021 novel, the show stars Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect, John Tucker Must Die) as Sophie, a woman who moves from Cambridge to the fictional Maple Brook, Texas, though many scenes were shot right here in Charlotte.
Some of the standout local filming locations include:
- Coyote Joe’s, the iconic country bar and music venue, is seen in multiple episodes.
- The Park Church, reimagined in the show as “Holy Horizon Church.”
- Azalea Retreat on Lake Norman, which plays the role of Margo and Jed’s scenic lake house.
- Dilworth Tasting Room (Tremont Ave. location), where Margo and Callie meet for mimosas in episode four.
- The former Rodeway Inn on Sugar Creek, appearing from episode five onward and tied to key plot points in the back half of the season. The site is now part of an affordable housing redevelopment project.
- Chapter 6, the Mediterranean restaurant featured in episode eight, during another Margo-Callie meetup.
Charlotte viewers might spot even more familiar spots while watching. Local flavor is sprinkled throughout the entire series.
