The average price of gasoline in the United States ahead of Labor Day weekend is expected to be the lowest in years, with Gas Buddy predicting it to be around $3.15 per gallon, $0.14 lower than last year.

They say the trend will likely continue in the fall, with the potential for the national average to dip below $3 per gallon.

Gas prices have been on a downward trend this summer, making it more affordable for people to travel.

Demand for gasoline typically decreases as summer ends, contributing to the overall decrease in gas prices across the country.
