James Van Der Beek Will Miss Dawson’s Creek Reunion

James Van Der Beek announced on Instagram that he will miss the Dawson’s Creek reunion due to a stomach illness.

Van Der Beek expressed disappointment at missing the event, saying, “This is the evening I’d been looking forward to MOST.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda will step in as an understudy for Van Der Beek at the reunion, with Van Der Beek calling him a “ridiculously overqualified replacement.”

Van Der Beek’s children would consider Miranda an upgrade over him, and he joked that Miranda already knows how to get to the theater.

Van Der Beek concluded his announcement by stating, “The role of Dawson, usually played by James Van Der Beek… Will be played by Lin-Manuel Miranda.”
