According to CMPD, a man wielding a metal post used for street signs entered the Plaza Sundries in the CATS Center downtown on Tuesday. Surveillance video shows 24-year-old Xavier Rashee Woody-Silas destroying merchandise while shouting anti-Asian slurs at the store's owners.

Bobby Cherry, 58, pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina said Friday in a press release. According to court documents, Cherry was involved in a scheme to defraud Lowe’s Home Improvement of more than $450,000 over the course of two years.

A shooting at a house party in Wilmington, North Carolina, left at least three people dead and four wounded, authorities said early Saturday morning. Police say the incident happened around midnight at 7th and Kidder Street in Wilmington.

Authorities say 32-year-old Lacy Coredell Gentry was found behind the wheel of his 2015 Volkswagen Passat inside the store. Police say he drove through the front entrance, causing substantial damage to several aisles as he tried to cruise around. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.

“The Police Department’s review determined that Officer Hampton had acted in a manner entirely inconsistent with his K-9 training and had violated Police Department policy. As a result, he was recommended for termination,” Salisbury police said in a statement. Hampton became a K-9 officer in 2015.

Dejywan R. Floyd, 29, of Lumberton, NC, was arrested at the Parkview Apartments overnight, according to authorities. He is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Julie Eberly, 47, of Mannheim, Pennsylvania, along with discharging a weapon into occupied property.

House Bill 453, which was introduced in the General Assembly this week, is known as the 'Human Non-Discrimination and No Eugenics Act'. The bill aims to restrict women from getting abortions based on race, sex, or a prenatal diagnosis of Down's syndrome.

Hunsucker turned himself into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office this week. He was already out of jail on bond and awaiting trial for the charges related to his wife's death, CMPD said. The former paramedic for Atrium Health’s MedCenter Air unit used a piece of equipment to intentionally spark a fire mid-flight.
