A No Swim Advisory has been issued for a recreational portion of a cove on Lake Norman due to a sewage spill.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services reported that 875 gallons of sewage spilled into the lake from a failed pipe on Jetton Road in Cornelius.
The advisory is in place due to the potential risk to human health, and the line is currently being repaired.
According to WCNC Charlotte https://www.wcnc.com/ In just over a month, Mecklenburg County has reported five spills in Lake Norman and Lake Wylie due to failed sewer systems or private contractors hitting pipes.
No estimation has been given for when the advisory will be lifted.
