Teenagers have been increasingly entering the workforce since 2009 due to new opportunities and higher wages The Washington Post reports.

The labor market has shifted during the pandemic, with older generations staying home and employers being forced to hire and train younger employees.

The abundance of entry-level jobs in hospitality has encouraged teenagers to seek employment. This trend is seen as a result of a tight labor market.

Experts suggest that when the labor market is tight, more teens work. Plenty of entry-level hospitality jobs encourage teenagers to get their foot in the door.
