Michigan native William “Bill” Post, a key figure in creating Pop-Tarts, has passed away at the age of 96.
Post, who grew up in Grand Rapids, worked at Hekman Biscuit Company (later Keebler) and later became the plant manager. He played a crucial role in developing Kellogg’s concept of a shelf-stable toaster pastry into the iconic Pop-Tarts.
Post’s legacy includes his humility, generosity, and service to his communities, as well as his dedication to sharing the Pop-Tart story with young people.
He retired at 56 but continued to work as a consultant at Kellogg’s for 20 years.
