The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday announced a restriction on Johnson and Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, saying it poses a risk of “rare but serious blood clots.” Although the vaccine is still available, the FDA is recommending that it be administered only to adults who can’t receive another brand, or those who specifically request it. The agency is recommending Pfizer or Moderna if you are deciding to get a shot.

Although the blood-clotting issue has come up before, FDA officials say they decided to issue the restriction after revisiting data that outlined the life-threatening risks of Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a similar warning in December yet the vaccine remains available for use.

Do you think it should be pulled off the market?
