Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that animated sequels to Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia are in the works.
He said, “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”
The most recent installments of those animated franchises were massive global grossing hits:
- Frozen 2 ($1.45 billion)
- Toy Story 4 ($1.07 billion)
- Zootopia ($1.02 billion)
Frozen 2 won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Into the Unknown,” The first Frozen movie won Best Animated Feature and Best Song for “Let It Go.”
