Ed Sheeran is on the other side of the court room. A UK hacker has been ordered to pay more than $127,000 after selling unreleased songs by Ed Sheeran and Lil Uzi Vert.
23-year-old Adrian Kwiatkowski is serving an 18-month prison sentence for hacking the artists’ digital accounts, then selling 26 unreleased songs on the dark web for cryptocurrency.
He was ordered to pay £100,000 – roughly $127,000 dollars – and will have to serve an additional 18 months if he can’t pay up.
Be honest – did you ever download songs illegally off Napster or Limewire? Do you think that the punishment should be more severe?
