With a record-tying 14 acting nominations in a single year, HBO’s Succession is leaving on top after receiving 27 Emmy nominations on Wednesday morning. That is the same as the program’s own 14 acting nominations from 2022, when it beat off the previous record-holders Roots and Rich Man, Poor Man, both of which had 13 nominations.

Though Succession only received three nominations for main actor in a drama series, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong’s performances made history. Award winners include J. Smith-Cameron for supporting actress, Nicholas Braun for lead actress, Matthew Macfadyen for supporting actor, Alan Ruck for supporting actor, and Sarah Snook for lead actress. James Cromwell, Arian Moayed, Hiam Abbass, Cherry Jones, and Harriet Walter all received nominations in the categories for special guests. The Emmys are going down on September 18th.
