Carolina Panthers

The final week of the preseason is officially upon us, but that doesn't mean the hot takes or the overreactions aren't already in midseason form. The Panthers, who are 0-2 in the preseason, after losses to the Giants and the Jets, will host the Lions on Friday night to close out the 2023 preseason. While the record is irrelevant to the matter, there is no denying that Carolina has looked sluggish with their starters on the field, which has led to skepticism both locally, and nationally. Michael Lombardi has gone as far as to say that Frank Reich won't have his team adequately prepared for the season opener at Atlanta on September 10th, and even questions how he got another head coaching job in the NFL.

This week is double the fun at the WFNZ Dog House powered by Jack Daniel’s. Friday, August 25th, we open at 4pm to tailgate before the Panthers take on the Lions at Bank of America Stadium. Mac and Kyle join forces on-air broadcasting live from the Audi […]

Panthers legendary WR Steve Smith returned to the Kyle Bailey Show as he recapped the Panthers 2nd preseason game, and if we should be worried over Ikem Ekwonu’s play so far. Steve first looked at the overall performance of the Panthers against the Giants as he saw improvement after the first preseason game against the […]

So there’s that? There were glimpses of Uptown Charlotte, Bank of America Stadium and Spartanburg South Carolina in Tuesday’s episode of the NFL-based reality show “Hard Knocks.” Oh, and glimpses of the actual Panthers. (Womp, womp.) (The Panthers lost 27-0.) It was undoubtedly a meaningless game so let’s move past that. “Hard Knocks” follows the […]

Even though it was a preseason game, the Panthers didn't expect to get overwhelmed by the Jets like they did last Saturday losing 27-0. Frank Reich admitted that Carolina didn't do much scheming going into the game and as a result. his offense was shut out, and he had a hard time getting past midfield. The biggest reason that Carolina failed to put any points on the board, was in large part due to their inability to win at the line of scrimmage, as the Jets' second unit dominated from the start. This theme carried over from the joint practice session. An abysmal performance across the board from Carolina's unit, led to a meeting after the game, with a fired-up James Campen, one of the more respected offensive line coaches in the NFL.

The Panthers welcomed the New York Jets to Spartanburg, SC for a couple of practices in advance of their preseason contest at Bank of America Stadium Saturday at 4pm. And while that’s notable in and of itself, the Jets are more newsworthy than ever as they’re followed by the constant cameras of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” […]

The first day of joint practices for the Carolina Panthers against the New York Jets appeared to have gone pretty well on Wednesday. Not only was there a record crowd around the practice field at Wofford, but there was a lot to be excited about on the field, as well. Reports from around the Jets […]

Agent 89 Steve Smith returned to the Kyle Bailey Show today as he previewed the Panthers upcoming game and joint practices with the Jets and what the goals should be. Steve started by previewing the Panthers upcoming joint practices against the Jets as the 2 things that he is looking to see are how the […]

The Carolina Panthers enter the 2023 season with the hopes of competing for a NFC South division title, as they seek to end the second-longest playoff drought in franchise history. The franchise underwent a major makeover after they fired Matt Rhule last October, hiring Frank Reich, the first offensive-minded head coach in team history. With all the moves made on that side of the football, drafting Bryce Young #1 overall, and bringing in great assistants like Josh McCown, and Thomas Brown, it's the defense that gives Carolina a chance to play meaningful football into January.

Entering the 2023 season, the biggest question on offense outside of Bryce Young is who will emerge as the number one pass target for the rookie signal caller. When Carolina made the move to trade up to #1, they sent DJ Moore to Chicago, therefore taking away the best receiver from the eventually drafted Alabama prospect. Carolina made moves during free agency, signing Adam Thielen after a stellar run with the Vikings, and DJ Chark away from the Detroit Lions. They didn't stop there, as they also used a second-round pick on Jonathan Mingo, out of Ole Miss, to give Bryce Young another weapon. Even with the additions to the wide receiver room, and the addition of Hayden Hurst, who plays tight end, there still isn't a clear #1 wide receiver on the roster, something that most teams that make the postseason typically have.
