Joe Person of The Athletic joined Kyle Bailey on Friday to discuss the latest with Brian Burns contract negotiations, and if the Panthers can start the season with a win.

The conversation started with Brian Burns contract talks reaching a stalemate as the season begins Joe explained that everything still is up in the air with the frustrations only growing as Joe compared the situation to arbitration deals in baseball for a player.

When it comes to whether or not Brian Burns will play Sunday’s opener against the Falcons Joe believes that it could go either way, but he believes based on what he has seen from Brian over his career he will play on Sunday.

Another concern the Panthers are facing is injuries to the WR room with DJ Chark already ruled out for Sunday and Adam Thielen questionable Joe said this is a big concern for a WR room that is thin on talent, and Joe also is concerned about Chandler Zavala making his debut at RG against Grady Jarrett, but Joe made it a point that Thomas Brown and Frank Reich really have quite a bit up their sleeve for Bryce Young’s debut.
