The Carolina Panthers are interviewing a rising star coach with deep roots in the Carolinas. Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is scheduled to interview for the head coach vacancy on Friday.
Johnson was born in Charleston, SC and played high school football in Asheville, NC. He also attended UNC- Chapel Hill where he walked on as a quarterback for the Tar Heels.
Ben Johnson is also being courted by other teams in the NFL given his success with the Lions. The Lions will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Detroit this Sunday at 3:00pm.
With Johnson prepping for Sunday’s game, he will do a virtual interview with the Panthers.
