Charlotte native, Ex-NFL wide receiver and East Carolina University grad Blake Proehl is hoping to launch a new career in music by competing on American Idol.
Over the weekend, host Ryan Seacrest announced that Proehl would be heading to Hollywood to appear on the show.
Proehl is the son of former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ricky Proehl.
Blake Proehl signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and spent the next two seasons on IR or the practice squad.
He released his first single, “Falling Into You”, in 2022.
