Comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld has been announced as the commencement speaker for Duke University’s public graduation ceremony on May 12.
The announcement was made during the Battle of the Blues game between Duke and UNC at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Students requested a speaker who would bring humor to the event, and Seinfeld, who has ties to Duke through his family, was chosen.
Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica, are involved with Duke as national chairs of the Parents Committee.
The commencement will take place at Wallace Wade stadium on the campus of Duke University.
They will also recognize five honorary degree recipients as well.
