Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would ban TikTok in the U.S.
But how exactly would that work?
If the bill were to be into law, China-based parent company ByteDance would have six months to find a buyer – and TikTok would remain operational in the meantime.
ByteDance would also likely appeal the ban, a process that could take years to work through the courts.
Even if the ban is passed, it’s not clear how it would work – the TikTok app would be banned from app stores in the U.S., but the app wouldn’t necessarily be deleted from your phone.
Do you think a TikTok ban will happen? Should it?
