Officers responded to the report of a deceased individual at the former Sagebrush Steakhouse located at 623 NC 24-27 Bypass E South Street last week. The crew working on tearing down the building discovered the body and immediately alerted authorities.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said in statement that he and his wife were "devastated" to receive news about the shooting. "Our hearts, thoughts, and support go out to the Oneida Nation, the Ashwaubenon and Green Bay communities, and all those affected by this tragedy," he said.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the crash of a Bell 429 helicopter and said they were in the process of assessing the accident on Thursday. The agency also said they would be assisting the National Transportation Safety Board's Charlotte-based team with their investigation of the incident.

Officers were called for a wellness check at a residence in the Brown's Chapel area of Watauga County on Wednesday morning. This was reportedly after the homeowner and his family were unaccounted for and did not show up for work, according to the statement.
